Coronado yards are small, and that is the design problem worth solving. Village lots near Orange Avenue and the older streets toward the Hotel del often leave a side yard, a courtyard and a strip of back garden rather than a true backyard, while the Coronado Cays trade that for waterfront frontage and its own exposure. Either way, every square foot has to do a job.
Salt air is relentless here, harder on hardware, paint and unsealed stone than anywhere inland, so material choice matters more than it does five miles east. Access is the other constraint: narrow streets, alleys and limited staging space shape how material gets in and how the work is sequenced. How much does salt air really affect Coronado outdoor projects?
A great deal. Water on nearly every side means constant marine exposure, which corrodes standard hardware and fades finishes faster than inland conditions do. Coastal rated fasteners, sealed stone and marine grade finishes add little upfront and hold up far longer here.
Can a small Coronado lot still get a real outdoor room?
Usually yes. Compact lots respond well to built-in seating, layered levels and side yards treated as usable space rather than leftover ground. We measure what you actually have, including access through alleys or gates, and show the realistic options during the free in-home consultation.
How does the free in-home consultation work?

It usually takes 30–60 minutes, and your written, itemized quote follows within two to three days. It is free for homeowners, with no obligation. Two situations are quoted differently: an appraisal-style quote on a property you do not own yet, and a quote for an insurance claim, are $350 each, credited in full toward your project if you go ahead with us.
How much does a backyard remodel cost in Coronado?
It depends on the size of the yard, the materials and the scope. A paver patio prices very differently from a full outdoor kitchen. We measure on-site at your free in-home consultation and put the whole scope into a written, itemized quote, so you know the real number before committing to anything.
Is there a minimum project size?
Yes. Our projects generally start around $6,000 to $8,000. Below that a full design-build crew is not the right fit, and you would be paying for overhead your job does not need. Ask anyway: for smaller work in the San Diego area we will point you to a handyman we trust rather than leave you without an answer.
Do you provide 3D design and renderings?
Yes. When you sign the project with us, the 3D design and rendering are included at no extra charge, so you can see the space before we build it. If you want the design on its own, it starts at $2,700, and that amount is credited toward the project if you go ahead with us.
What warranty do you offer?
Warranty length follows the material, because different materials wear in different ways: retaining walls 20-Year, aluminum and vinyl 20-Year, pavers 15-Year, artificial turf 15-Year, concrete 10-Year, wood 5-Year and irrigation 1-Year. That is our workmanship warranty on the installation, written into your contract. Ask us what applies to your scope at the in-home consultation.

Yes, Sunny Builders Group is a licensed California contractor, CSLB #1098213, classifications B, C-27. We are bonded and carry workers’ compensation and liability insurance. You can verify the license on the CSLB website.

Do you only build outdoor projects?
Outdoor living is our specialty and the bulk of what we build. We are also a licensed general contractor, so we take on interior remodels: kitchens, bathrooms and flooring. If a project runs from the backyard into the house, it stays with one licensed contractor and one crew instead of being split between two companies.
