What we build in Escondido
What we build in Escondido has to respect both the heat and the ground. Lots around Old Escondido and toward San Pasqual Valley run larger and hotter than coastal parcels, with decomposed granite soil and genuine slope on the north and east sides of the city. That combination shapes footings and drainage before it shapes anything decorative.
Because summer heat here is real and sustained, projects that hold up without constant watering tend to perform best long-term. Turf conversions, shaded patios and irrigation planned around actual sun exposure all pay off more in Escondido than they would closer to the coast. On the sloped lots near Hidden Meadows, drainage planning matters just as much as the finish work.
Exterior & outdoor remodeling services
Escondido's sustained heat and larger inland lots favor turf, durable concrete surfaces and landscaping built for real sun.

Frequently asked questions
Does Escondido's heat change which outdoor materials hold up best?
Yes. Sustained inland heat is harder on some surfaces and plantings than the milder coastal climate, so we generally lean toward heat-tolerant turf, shade structures and irrigation built for real sun exposure rather than a coastal-spec plan. We confirm the right materials for your lot's exposure on-site.
Are sloped lots common in the northern and eastern parts of Escondido?
Yes, genuine slope shows up more often on the north and east sides of the city than in the flatter central valley. On sloped lots, drainage and grading typically need to be addressed before any turf, patio or landscape work begins, which we account for during the in-home consultation.
How does the free in-home consultation work?
Call (858) 888-1725 or send the form and we call you back to book a time. We come to your home, walk the space with you, measure and talk through scope and budget. It usually takes 30–60 minutes, and your written, itemized quote follows within two to three days. It is free for homeowners, with no obligation. Two situations are quoted differently: an appraisal-style quote on a property you do not own yet, and a quote for an insurance claim, are $350 each, credited in full toward your project if you go ahead with us.
How much does a backyard remodel cost in Escondido?
It depends on the size of the yard, the materials and the scope. A paver patio prices very differently from a full outdoor kitchen. We measure on-site at your free in-home consultation and put the whole scope into a written, itemized quote, so you know the real number before committing to anything.
Is there a minimum project size?
Yes. Our projects generally start around $6,000 to $8,000. Below that a full design-build crew is not the right fit, and you would be paying for overhead your job does not need. Ask anyway: for smaller work in the San Diego area we will point you to a handyman we trust rather than leave you without an answer.
Do you provide 3D design and renderings?
Yes. When you sign the project with us, the 3D design and rendering are included at no extra charge, so you can see the space before we build it. If you want the design on its own, it starts at $2,700, and that amount is credited toward the project if you go ahead with us.
What warranty do you offer?
Warranty length follows the material, because different materials wear in different ways: retaining walls 20-Year, aluminum and vinyl 20-Year, pavers 15-Year, artificial turf 15-Year, concrete 10-Year, wood 5-Year and irrigation 1-Year. That is our workmanship warranty on the installation, written into your contract. Ask us what applies to your scope at the in-home consultation.
Are you a licensed contractor?
Yes, Sunny Builders Group is a licensed California contractor, CSLB #1098213, classifications B, C-27. We are bonded and carry workers’ compensation and liability insurance. You can verify the license on the CSLB website.
What areas do you serve?
We work across San Diego County and Temecula Valley. See the full list on our service areas page.
Do you only build outdoor projects?
Outdoor living is our specialty and the bulk of what we build. We are also a licensed general contractor, so we take on interior remodels: kitchens, bathrooms and flooring. If a project runs from the backyard into the house, it stays with one licensed contractor and one crew instead of being split between two companies.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, financing options are available for your project. Ask us about the current plans when you book your free in-home consultation.
